Forex Trading News: CHF Unemployment Rate Released

The CHF Unemployment Rate came out at 2.6% from the previous 2.5%. No change was forecast from this 2.5%.

The CHF softened up just a bit after this worse than forecast data.

Manufacturing led the decline with -61,000 declines.

Transportation equipment and Motor vehicles and parts accounted for the decline.

Professional and Business services were hurt by employment services and tempory help declines.

No summer hiring in Leisure and Hospitality continued in August. Tough summer for that industry. Never had a hiring spurt at all.

Health care and social assistance accounted for the Health Care increase.

Local government was up but no education change. This is surprising. Last August this category increased by 33,000.

Retail Trade lost 19,900 jobs. Auto and food and beverage stores led the decline this month.

Forex Trading News: German Unemployment Change Released

The German Unemployment Change which was leaked early came out at -40K from the previous -20K. This was forecast for a rise to -10K.

There was no impact to this data as this release confirmed the leak which came out about 20 minutes early.

Forex Trading News: EUR German Unemployment Change Out as Expected

The German unemployment Change comes out at -20K from the previous -38K. This was forecast for a rise to -20K.

The EUR was being dragged down as this data was released. Not much change in the currency after this data was release as an earlier leak claimed this data was to be released better than forecast at -15K.

The CHF Unemployment Rate comes out at 2.5%, unchanged as forecast.

The USD already bid into this release, made some more gains on the CHF after this data.

Forex News: Unemployment Breakdown

The market was relieved the Unemployment Rate did not increase but stayed as is.

The pieces of the report:

Manufacturing and Construction kept their string of losses in tact showing declines of 43 and 33 thousand jobs respectively
Financial Activity lost 10,000 jobs.
Professional and Business Services lost 51,000 jobs
Trade, Transportation and Utiliites Lost 9,000 jobs

Health and Education Added 29,000 jobs
Leisure and Hospitality rose by a surprising 24,000 jobs
Government went up 29,000, back to trend

Forex Trading News: EUR German Unemployment Released

The German Unemployment number comes out at 4K from the previous -7K. This was forecast at -25K.

The EUR took a small drop as this data shows that the number of unemployed rose for the previous month.

Forex Trading: Canada Unemployment Rate 6.1 versus 6.0

The net change in employment rose 19,200 jobs in the month of April. This was greater than expected. The unemployment rate at 6.1% is the highest rate since June 2007. The low was 5.8%.

Construction (+16,200), food and accomodation (+22.200), education (+13,800) and energy sectors benefitted the most. While agriculture (-5,400), manufacturing (-14,900) and Managment (-11,700), led the job losses.

Forex Trading News: German Unemployment Rate Released Slightly Higher Than Forecast

The German Unemployment number comes out at 7.9% from the previous 7.8%. No change was expected.

This rise in the unemployment has caused a drop in the EUR across the board. Several more EUR data releases are out at 5:00 AM led by the CPI Flash Estimate, with the ECB's Trichet speaking around 8:00 AM.
