Forex Trading News: New Zealand Trade Balance

The New Zealand Trade Balance expected to be a negative 775 million for November, better than the negative 942 million for October, came in further to the upside at a negative -520B. In addition the other Kiwi data releases were as follows:

Imports - Survey: 4.54B Actual: 4.21B Prior: 4.78B

Exports - Survey: 3.71B Actual: 3.69B Prior: 3.83B

In aggregate this better than expected report has had little effect on the price of NZD/USD trading at the same price prior to the release.

Forex Trading News: New Zealand 3rd Quarter GDP

New Zealands 3rd quarter GDP readings came in as follows:

GDP (QoQ) - Survey:-0.5% Actual:-0.4% Prior:-0.2%

GDP (YoY) - Survey:-0.1% Actual:-0.1% Prior:1.0%

The Kiwi is relatively unchanged on this slightly better than expected report as it is based on 3rd quarter information, when the markets are all looking ahead.

Forex Trading News: New Zealand Westpac Consumer Confidence

The New Zealand Westpac Consumer Confidence came in at 101.3 for the 4th quarter, worse than the 3rd quarters reading of 104.8. The Kiwi is little changed after this release.

The New Zealand Retail Sales for September were released as follows:

Retail Sales - Survey: 0.4% Actual: 0.1%

Retail Sales (ex-auto) - Survey: 0.4% Actual: -0.5%

Retail Sales (ex-inflation) - Survey: -1.2% Actual: -0.9%

The NZD/USD pair which was trading below the .56 figure is slightly softer following this weaker than expected report.

Forex Trading News: New Zealand Commodity Price Index

The Bank of New Zealand's Commodity Price Index fell again in October down -7.4% after falling by -4.9% in September. Commodity prices are continuing to fall across the board as speculation of a global slowdown continues to spread, subsequently diminishing the demand for the raw products that make up this index.

Forex Trading News: New Zealand Business Confidence

New Zealand Business Confidence for October came in at a terrible -42.3, much worse than the prior reading for +1.6. This report has sent the Kiwi a little bit lower against the Dollar, but overall this poor reading has evoked a minimal reaction.
