Bobbys Corner-Open Market-March.24.2010

March 24, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

bob-slade-forex-1-150x200Good Morning:

The Euro fell across the board as the EU may seek IMF assistance to bailout Greece.  The EUR/USD pair traded at the lowest level in 10 months, and CHF traded at a near record high against the single currency.
More bad news hit the Euro Zone, as Fitch Ratings lowered Portugal’s credit grade overnight.
The EU will be put to a test regarding Greece’s debt issue.  If the EU has problems dealing with a relatively small issue like Greece’s debt problems-how will they deal with a real economic disaster?  The marketplace will be watching very closely to see how the EU will handle this problem, and the future of the Euro may be at the forefront of this decision.

Asian equity markets were lower, and Europe is lower.  US Futures are pointing to a lower opening this morning.
Metals and oil also dropped, as the dollar accelerated.

Oil:$80.60                                                          Gold:$1094.10

Eurozone Industrial Orders m/m came in at 2.0%, stronger than the 1.2% expected.

Eur/Usd got a small lift of good number , it now trades at 1.5033 up about 10 points. Sterling’s weakness is still dominating trading and Euro gains may be attributed to Eur/Gbp’s rise. The pair currently trades at .9150 up 130 points in last 40 minutes.

Usd/Jpy trading around 200 hour M/A

August 3, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Usd/Jpy has been trading around its 200 hour M/A (94.71) since Friday’s selloff down to 94.48. I would look at the 200 hour M/A as a good level of  support. A run up will bring resistance around 95.00 with both 100 hour M/A  lying at 94.97 and 38.2 retracement of recent high at 95.01. If it breaks lower the next support will be Friday’s low of 94.48.
