Chinese HSBC Manufacturing PMI
The market has a muted reaction to a worse manufacturing PMI number out of China which came in at 52.7 versus the prior reading of 55.4.
Aussie Retail Sales
The AUD traded higher after the release of better than expected April retail sales which came in at 0.6% versus the forecast of 0.3% and prior showing of 0.3%.
The following building approval numbers were also released at the same time:
- Building Approvals (m/m) – Survey: -5.0% Actual: -14.8% Prior: 15.3%
- Building Approvals (y/y) – Survey: 34.0% Actual: 21.3% Prior: 51.6%
Chinese Manufacturing PMI
China’s manufacturing PMI came in at 53.9; worse than the forecast of 54.8 and prior reading of 55.7.
Aussie AIG Manufacturing Index
Australia’s AIG manufacturing index came in at 56.3; worse than the prior reading of 59.8.
