The US Durable Goods Orders will be released at 8:30 AM.   This statistic measures the total value of new purchase orders placed with domestic manufacturers for hard goods with a life expectancy of more than 3 years, such as automobiles, computers, appliances, and airplanes.    At the same time the Core Durable Goods Orders are also released.  This statistic excludes the volatile transportation component.

Durable Goods Orders, because they are for such large ticket items, can surprise on the upside and downside.  As a result, there is often much discussion and discounting if it is a number that is way off expectations.   >

This month expectations are for a 4.0% decline after a revised 5.0% gain last month.  The ex transportation figure is expected show a more modest 1.2% decline after rising 2.3% last month.
