Greece to announce additional deficit cuts

Written March 2, 2010 at 10:51 AM EST by Greg Michalowski

A spokesperson has said that the Greek government will announce as much as 4.8 billion euro of additional cuts tomorrow.  This seems to be giving the EURUSD another bid.

The new measures will include higher tobacco, alcohol and sales taxes and deeper cuts in public workers’ bonus payments.   The additional measures by the Greek government might pave the way for additional aid by the EU.

Greg, do you think that it was always going to turn out that the EU HAD to support the Greeks? Seems that they have been just dancing around causing the market to go all over the place trying to determine what was finally going to be put in place….

I think there has been some real pressure from the EU to take some responsibility for their actions. The more news comes out the more clear the trend will hopefully get….
