Fed’s Fisher on the Wire

The Dallas Fed President Fisher had the following comments sduring a speech in Austin, Texas, to which the market had a muted reaction:

  • Bank credit revival to takeĀ  “considerable time.’
  • ‘Sources of strength’ to wane heading into 2010.
  • US may undergo a comparatively weak recovery.
  • ‘Significant job growth’ may take ‘some time.’
  • Inflation will probably be ‘subdued for some time.’
  • Deflation a ‘more immediate’ issue than inflation.
  • Fed determined to be independent and not monetize debt.
  • During the crisis ‘everyone rushed into dollars.’
  • Rather orderly depreciation of the USD now.
